Kelsey Grammer released from hospital

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Actor Kelsey Grammer has been released from a New York hospital, his spokesman said on Tuesday, after checking in about a week ago when he was feeling faint following a recent heart attack.

“Kelsey Grammer is out of the hospital, feeling great and about to resume normal activities at home,” his spokesman, Stan Rosenfield, said in a statement.

“He and his wife Camille want to thank everyone who expressed concern. They appreciated the kind words,” the statement concludes.

Rosenfield said there would be no further details.

Grammer, who played the snooty but lovable psychiatrist Dr. Frasier Crane on long-running NBC comedy “Frasier,” entered the hospital on Monday last week after feeling faint.

In late May, he suffered chest pains while paddle-boarding with his wife in Hawaii, where they have a home. He was taken to a hospital at that time and it was determined he had suffered a heart attack. He was released on June 4.

In this newest scare, Grammer had been out in public promoting his new movie, “Swing Vote,” which debuted in theaters last Friday.

Grammer first gained fame playing Frasier Crane on the hit NBC sitcom “Cheers,” which rand from 1982 to 1993. A spinoff, “Frasier,” was based on the lives of Crane, his brother, father and co-workers. It ran from 1993 to 2004 and earned Grammer four Emmys and several other acting awards and nominations.

Grammer’s heart attack came three weeks after he learned that the Fox network had canceled his latest TV show, “Back to You,” in which he played a pompous, womanizing TV news anchor. The series only made it for one season.
