LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Mike Myers, the funny man star of the “Austin Powers” comedies, is set to host the irreverent MTV Movie Awards this June, MTV said on Wednesday.
The show annually pokes fun at straightforward Hollywood awards like the Oscars by honoring actors and actresses in categories such as “best kiss” and “best villain,” and it has become widely-watched for its humor and star power.
“Hosting the MTV Movie Awards is like a party, but without having to do beer runs in your mom’s mini-van,” Myers said in a statement. “We do beer runs in Will Smith’s four-story motorhome.”
Myers, who stars in summer comedy “The Love Guru,” has hosted the MTV movie awards previously. Nominees will be unveiled in May, and the show will air on June 1.
