LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Oscar nominee Ellen Page and Irish actor Cillian Murphy are attached to star in the psychological thriller “Peacock.”
The independently financed film is set in the small town of Peacock, Neb., where a man with a split personality (Murphy) fools the town into believing that his two alter-egos are man and wife. Page will play a struggling young mother who sparks a battle between the personalities.
Michael Lander will direct from a script he co-wrote with Ryan Roy.
The film marks Page’s fourth project with the film’s producer Mandate Pictures. She starred in “Juno,” for which she received a best-actress Oscar nomination. Her next project with Mandate is the comedy “Whip It,” which marks Drew Barrymore’s directorial debut. Page also will star in Mandate’s horror film “Drag Me to Hell” for “Spider-Man” director Sam Raimi.
Murphy, meanwhile, reprises his role as Scarecrow in the Batman sequel “The Dark Knight,” which opens July 18.
