LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - “Saturday Night Live” veteran Amy Poehler has given birth to a boy and will not return to the NBC show, her spokesman said on Monday.
Poehler, who is married to actor Will Arnett, gave birth to the child on Saturday, her representative, Lewis Kay, said in a statement. The boy is named Archie Arnett, Kay said.
Poehler, who has starred on the TV sketch show “Saturday Night Live” since 2001, will not return to the program as a regular cast member, Kay said.
As she leaves “Saturday Night Live,” Poehler, 37, is due to star in an NBC comedy series from the producers of the TV network’s popular workplace satire “The Office.”
Earlier this year, Poehler played in the movie “Baby Mama” with former “Saturday Night Live” cast-mate Tina Fey.
Arnett was in the Fox sitcom “Arrested Development” and also appeared in 2007 movie “Blades of Glory.”
