NEW YORK (Billboard) - Coldplay will kick off a North American summer tour July 10 at the Amphitheater at Clark County in Portland, Ore. So far, 14 dates are set through early August, with more to be announced.
The British band is up for seven Grammys on Sunday — including album of the year for 2008’s “Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends” and song of the year for “Viva La Vida.”
The foursome will perform during the CBS telecast and be featured during “60 Minutes” preceding the show.
The Grammys could prove interesting for the band, which is being sued for copyright infringement by guitarist Joe Satriani. Satriani’s lawyer told Fox News that his team will attempt to serve Coldplay with legal documents at the event and will have a camera crew on hand to film what transpires.
After the Grammys, Coldplay begins a tour of Japan, the U.K. and Australia. With four nods, the band co-leads the list of BRIT Award nominees. The honors will be presented February 18 in London.
