Apatow movie to screen at Montreal comedy fest

TORONTO (Hollywood Reporter) - Writer-director Judd Apatow’s “Funny People” will headline the Just for Laughs film festival in Montreal next month, organizers said Monday.

Co-stars Aziz Ansari and Aubrey Plaza will both be on hand for the July 25 sneak preview of the comedy-drama before it hits theaters on July 31 through Universal.

Other Just for Laughs film titles include Bobcat Goldthwait’s “World’s Greatest Dad,” which stars Robin Williams; and Kevin Heffernan’s “Broken Lizard’s The Slammin’ Salmon,” featuring Broken Lizard comedy troupe members Jay Chandrasekhar, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, Erik Stolhanske, and Heffernan.

The festival will open July 10 with “OSS 117: Lost in Rio,” a French comedy starring Jean Dujardin as a quirky secret agent. It runs through July 27, alongside the Just for Laughs comedy festival.
