Kevin Kline to star in HBO drama series

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Oscar winner Kevin Kline is making his foray into television with a series in development at HBO.

Kline is set to star in and executive produce the hour-long show. Penned by “Proof” writer David Auburn, it concerns a prominent doctor (Kline) who must restart his life after serving a 15-year prison sentence for murdering his mistress.

Kline has turned down numerous TV offers over the years.

“It is hard to believe that I’m working with David Auburn and Kevin Kline on a project,” said Gavin Polone, who’s executive producing the show with Kline manager Judy Hofflund. Referring to a high-profile film and theater producer, he added, “I feel like I’ve died and have been reincarnated as Scott Rudin.”
