"Lost" star Josh Holloway joins "M:I-4"

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - “Lost” heartthrob Josh Holloway is joining the “Mission: Impossible” team for his first studio picture.

Holloway would play a member of the Impossible Mission Force, the secret agent task force headed by Tom Cruise in Paramount’s “Mission: Impossible 4.”

The cast also includes newcomers Jeremy Renner, Paula Patton and Vladimir Mashkov, and franchise veterans Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg.

The production is scouting locations in Vancouver, Prague and Dubai for a fall shoot with an eye toward a December 2011 release. Brad Bird is directing.

Holloway spent six seasons as anti-hero Sawyer on “Lost,” which was executive produced by “M:I4” producer J.J. Abrams. He has appeared in a couple of indies, including “Stay Cool” and “Whisper,” although he had to pass on larger opportunities that tended to overlap the TV show, which was shot in Hawaii.
