Rapper Kid Cudi drug charge may be dismissed

NEW YORK (Reuters) - A drug possession charge against U.S. rapper Kid Cudi could be dismissed in six-months if he stays out of trouble, a spokeswoman for the Manhattan district attorney said on Tuesday.

Cudi, 26, whose real name is Scott Mescudi, was given an adjournment on contemplation of dismissal on Friday through his attorney. He was not present in court and did not enter a plea, the spokeswoman said.

The rapper from Cleveland was arrested on June 11 after a police officer said she found cocaine in the pocket of his pants.

Cudi was sentenced to two-days of community service. The misdemeanor charge will be dropped if he stays out of trouble for six-months, the spokeswoman said.

Cudi’s single “Day ‘n’ Night” was a top five hit on the Billboard Hot 100.

He is expected back in court on March 23.
