NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - Katie Couric’s future, once her CBS News contract ends, will be whereever she can have a “strong role,” the news anchor told the Daily Beast.

“Obviously, I’m going to figure out where I think I could have a role, a strong role,” she told new Daily Beast media writer Howard Kurtz who also cited CBS News insiders as saying she may extend her stay at the network and is aware that she would take a salary cut in that case. “I’ll have to think long and hard about the choices I have going forward.”

She also added: “I love my job at CBS.” And asked about CBS Corp. CEO Leslie Moonves’ declaration that Couric’s current deal was the last huge TV anchor deal, she acknowledged that some TV talent gets paid handsomely before adding: “How the economic paradigm is going to change in the future, I don’t know.”

Meanwhile, CBS insiders say there is a good chance that Couric will sign a new deal, including a lower salary, with CBS that will keep her at the company at least through the 2012 elections, the Daily Beast reported.

Couric’s other options have often been said to include a syndicated daytime show or a move to CNN.

In the Daily Beast interview, Couric also admits to being a Twitter junkie. “My friends accuse me of becoming a bit of a Twitter addict,” she told Kurtz.

She has tweeted about everything from hating the pumpkin latte at Starbucks to watching “The Social Network,” after which she said Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg seems like a “jerk,” according to the Daily Beast.
