Woodward book on Obama due out in U.S. in September

NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. investigative journalist Bob Woodward, who rose to fame reporting on the Watergate scandal in the 1970s, will release a new book on President Barack Obama in September, publisher Simon & Schuster said on Wednesday.

Woodward, who in recent years wrote several bestselling books on former President George W. Bush, has been working on the Obama White House book for more than a year. The book, released initially in the United States, does not yet have a title or print run and no more details were available, said Victoria Meyer, spokeswoman for Simon & Schuster.

An associate editor of The Washington Post newspaper, Woodward is well known for his investigative work with fellow reporter Carl Bernstein that played a key role in forcing President Richard Nixon to resign in 1974 in the Watergate scandal.

His last and fourth book on former President George W. Bush, “The War Within: A Secret White House History 2006-2008,” had an initial print run in 2008 of 900,000 hardback copies. Simon & Schuster is a division of CBS Corporation.
