LONDON (Reuters Life!) - “Be Prepared” — the Scouts’ long-standing motto — takes on another dimension from Thursday with the launch of a new badge for entrepreneurship.
The badge encourages scouts to add business start-ups to their repertoire, which traditionally involves camping, singalongs, map-reading and knot-tying.
“It’s our job to encourage them to try new things and be more entrepreneurial,” Scout Association spokesman Simon Carter told the BBC.
The badge is multimillionaire Richard Harpin’s brainchild. The founder and chief executive of domestic insurance company Homeserve has put up 50,000 pounds ($75,780) to fund it.
The badge will also be awarded for fundraising.
