LONDON (Reuters) - Britain’s Prince William and his new wife Catherine will visit the United States in July at the end of their first official foreign trip as a married couple, his office said on Thursday.

The new Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, will visit California from July 8 to 10, St James’s Palace said.

The 28-year-old second-in-line to the British throne has never visited the United States in an official capacity, although he has made private trips to the country in the past. Catherine, 29, has never been there, royal officials said.

Details of the California trip have not yet been released.

The couple, whose wedding last week attracted about a million well-wishers onto the streets of London and a global TV audience estimated by media to be as high as 2.4 billion, leave for an official trip to Canada on June 30.

They have delayed their overseas honeymoon, which they had been expected to depart for on Saturday, the day after the wedding, and William returned to work as a Royal Air Force search and rescue helicopter pilot on Tuesday.
