LONDON (Reuters Life!) - Cross-dressing comedian Eddie Izzard completed the equivalent of 43 marathons as he ran across Britain in 51 days for charity.
Izzard, 47, began training five weeks prior to his 1,100-mile epic journey.
"I feel exhausted," he said as he finished the challenge in heavy rain in London's Trafalgar Square. "I can't wait to sleep."
The double Emmy award-winner who appeared in Tom Cruise's film "Valkyrie," said he had been trying to complete his final day's run in less than five hours but missed his target by 30 seconds.
Izzard ran at least 27 miles every day, traveling from London to Liverpool, Northern Ireland, Scotland and back to London.
So far he has raised more than 200,000 pounds ($329,000) for the Sport Relief charity.
