MOSCOW (Reuters) - Twitter pals Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger took their chummy online relationship into the New Year Tuesday with a series of new tweets.
The Twitter enthusiasts’ love of technology has united the two politicians over the past year, and they have sporadically sent each other friendly tweets since the Russian president met the then Republican governor in June on a Silicon Valley tour.
“Can’t wait to see you again — maybe skiing?” the actor wrote Tuesday in reply to Medvedev’s wishes for success after Schwarzenegger stepped down from his governor’s post due to term limits.
“We agreed — I remember. We’ll definitely find the time,” Medvedev tweeted back.
Medvedev was bowled over by Schwarzenegger when they met in Silicon Valley, quipping “I’ll be back” and winking at the Hollywood actor, quoting the famous catch phrase from his film “The Terminator.”
Schwarzenegger returned the gesture when he led a group of venture capitalists to Russia’s technology hub Skolkovo — Medvedev’s pet project — outside Moscow in October.
During his Moscow trip, Schwarzenegger tweeted a picture of him and the Kremlin chief lifting weights together.
