FRANKFURT (Reuters) - A new tour package of London is offering a glimpse of the royal wedding experience for swooning German girls left inconsolable by the engagement of Britain’s Prince William to Kate Middleton last year.
Europe’s largest travel company TUI has announced the launch of a limited number of 295-euro ($380) royal wedding-themed packages for German women who want to feel part of the historic occasion which takes place in London on April 29th this year.
The package includes hotel accommodation and a William and Kate-themed guided tour of the British capital, stopping off at places linked to the royal couple. Flights are extra.
Highlights of the tour include visits to Garrard, the jeweler which supplied the engagement ring for Princess Diana that Kate now wears, and Westminster Abbey, the wedding venue.
Visitors will also get a glimpse of Jigsaw — the retail fashion chain where Kate used to work — hit the Mahiki night club where young UK royals have partied and tour traditional tourist hotspots like Buckingham Palace and the Queen’s Chapel.
The weekend away also includes tickets for the Tower of London — the home of the crown jewels and where two of Henry VIII’s royal wives literally lost their heads — two commemorative mugs featuring William and Kate, and a subscription to lifestyle magazine “Gala.”
Alexa Huener, press spokeswoman for TUI Germany, said the novel package was going down a storm in Germany.
“We’re very pleased,” she told Reuters on Monday. “The offer is going down really well but we’ve got some free places left at the moment.”
