Oct 30 (Reuters) - Canadian cable and telecommunications company Cogeco Inc (CGO.TO) posted a 56 percent jump in quarterly profit on strong performance of its cable operations.
For the fourth quarter, the company earned C$15.2 million, or 91 Canadian cents per share, up from C$9.7 million, or 58 Canadian cents a share, a year ago.
Excluding items, it earned 49 Canadian cents a share.
Cogeco, which earns most of its revenue from its cable business, said revenue grew 8 percent to C$316.3 million, helped by rate increases and acquisition of Cogeco Data Services.
Analysts on average expected earnings of 63 Canadian cents a share, on a revenue of C$316.7 million, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.
The company maintained its 2010 revenue view at C$1.29 billion.
