Feb 26 (Reuters) - Patent licensing firm Mosaid Technologies MSD.TO reported third-quarter earnings that beat estimates, but forecast fourth-quarter pro forma earnings below consensus.
The company also gave 2009 earnings range, the upper end of which was above the Street view.
Mosaid said its contracts with Micron Technology Inc MU.N and Nokia Oyj NOK1V.HE (NOK.N) will boost revenue streams and help it in reaching new agreements with existing liscensees.
For the fourth quarter, Mosaid forecast pro forma earnings of 62 Canadian cents to 71 Canadian cents on revenue of C$16 million to C$18 million.
Analysts on average expect profit of 79 Canadian cents a share on revenue of C$18.8 million for the period, according to Reuters Estimates.
For 2009, however, the company sees pro forma income in the range of C$1.92 to C$2.02, on revenue of C$61 million to C$63 million. Analysts estimate earnings of C$1.93 on revenue of C$61.6 million.
For its latest third quarter, the company reported net income of 23 Canadian cents a share. On a pro forma basis, income was 53 Canadian cents a share, versus analysts view of 39 Canadian cents.
Shares of the company closed at C$10.31 Thursday on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
