April 30 (Reuters) - Waste management company BFI Canada Ltd BFC.TO posted a higher first-quarter profit helped by core price increases in its Canadian and U.S. segments.
Price increases in the quarter was due to recovery of recycled commodity price declines, the company said.
The company posted a net profit of C$12.2 million, or 17 Canadian cents a share, compared with of C$10.5 million, or 15 Canadian cents a share, in the prior period.
Quarterly revenue of the company rose 14.1 percent to C$278 million.
Analysts on average were expecting net earnings of 10 Canadian cents a share on revenue of C$262.30 million, according to Reuters estimates.
Shares of the company were trading up 3 percent at C$10.10 in afternoon trade on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
