BUZZ-Brazil retailers: purchasing intentions index rises in November

** Brazilian households were more inclined to increase their purchases of goods and services in November, bringing an index measuring consumer purchasing intentions to the highest level in about 16 months, a group representing retailers in the country’s wealthiest state said on Wednesday

** According to Fecomercio-SP, the index rose 0.5 pct to a reading of 73.9 points - the highest since July 2015. A gauge measuring current consumption habits climbed, with one about job stability also rising, Fecomercio-SP said

** Several indicators have shown, however, that the Brazilian economy remains mired in a recession that is the longest and harshest in more than eight decades. The recovery may take longer than originally expected, economists said this week

** Shares of Brazilian consumer goods and retailing firms trading in São Paulo and grouped in the so-called consumer index gained 0.7 pct on Wednesday, outpacing a rise in the benchmark Bovespa stock index
