BUZZ-Kansas City Southern: Chasing the NAFTA ball

** Kansas City Southern shares rise 4.2 pct to $90.45 in morning trade, reversing day-earlier loss

** Railroad’s shares hit Weds after reports White House was readying order to quit North American Free Trade Agreement; but late in day, White House said Trump told leaders of Canada and Mexico that he will not terminate the NAFTA treaty at this stage

** Regional U.S. railroad has an extensive network in Mexico; just last Fri the stock fell on worries about the co’s operations in Mexico even as its Q1 earnings topped expectations

** Separately, Union Pacific shares up 3.1 pct after No. 1 U.S. railroad reported better-than-expected qtrly profit

** YTD, UNP shares up 9.6 pct, and KSU up 6.6 pct. Both lagging the Dow Jones U.S. railroad index which is up 16 pct
