Feb 17 (Reuters) - Inter Pipeline Fund IPL_u.TO posted a higher quarterly profit, but missed market estimates, hurt by lower sales at its natural gas liquids extraction business.
Fourth-quarter earnings came in at C$58.6 million, or 22 Canadian cents per unit, compared with C$23.2 million, or 8 Canadian cents a unit, a year ago.
Total revenue at the petroleum transportation provider fell about 2 percent to C$252.5 million. NGL extraction revenue fell 7 percent to C$149.1 million.
Analysts on average expected earnings of 26 Canadian cents a unit, on revenue of C$260.6 million, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.
Units of the Calgary, Alberta-based company were trading down 2 Canadian cents at C$15.03 on Thursday on the Toronto Stock Exchange. (Reporting by Gowri Jayakumar)
