March 14 (Reuters) - Churchill Corp reported higher quarterly results as revenue from its contract segment more than doubled, and the construction company said it was awarded $185 million in new contracts in 2011 across Western Canada.
For the October-December quarter, earnings rose to C$14.6 million, or 58 Canadian cents a share, from C$7.7 million, or 42 Canadian cents a share, in the year-ago quarter.
Contract revenue more than doubled to C$389.7 million, the company said in a statement.
Shares of the Calgary, Alberta-based company closed at C$18 on Friday on the Toronto Stock Exchange. (Reporting by Amruta Sabnis in Bangalore; Editing by Don Sebastian)
