April 14 (Reuters) - Canadian broadcaster Astral Media's ACMa.TO ACMb.TO quarterly profit rose 3 percent, helped by growth in its television segment.
For the second quarter ended Feb 28, consolidated net income was C$34.8 million, or 61 Canadian cents a share, up from C$33.6 million, or 59 Canadian cents a share, last year.
The Montreal-based Astral, which operates television, outdoor advertising and radio business units, said consolidated revenues grew 7 percent to C$232.7 million.
Analysts on average were expecting the specialty-TV and radio company to earn 63 Canadian cents per share on revenue of C$230.6 million, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.
Television revenue rose 7 percent to C$138.9 million, the company said in a statement.
