April 15 (Reuters) - Canadian gold miner Anaconda Mining Inc posted a fifth-straight quarterly loss, but expenses were lower from a year-ago levels and production rose sequentially.
Net loss for the third quarter was $1.9 million, or 1.5 cents a share, compared with a loss of $2.2 million, or 2.5 cents per share, a year ago.
Sales fell about 15 percent to $2.2 million.
Toronto-based Anaconda produced about 1,790 ounces of gold in the quarter, compared with 2,274 ounces of gold a year ago. In the second quarter, the company produced 980 ounces of gold.
Administrative expenses fell about 5 percent to 890,000 in the quarter.
Shares of the company were trading flat at 7 Canadian cents on Friday on the Toronto Stock Exchange. (Reporting by Abhiram Nandakumar in Bangalore;Editing by Vyas Mohan)
