May 9 (Reuters) - Canada’s Katanga Mining , whose key operations are in the Democratic Republic of Congo, reported a first-quarter profit.
The Toronto-listed miner reported a net profit of $42.0 million and sales of $171.0 million. It did not provide a comparison with results from the year-ago quarter in the statement.
Quarterly copper production was 18,385 tonnes and cobalt production was 635 tonnes.
Katanga is constructing a 120,000-tonne-per-annum concentrate filtration and bagging facility, expected to be completed in the second quarter.
