May 11 (Reuters) - Canadian organic food producer SunOpta Inc posted first-quarter earnings that rose 22 percent, driven by gains from its grains and international foods segments.
Quarterly earnings were $5.7 million, or 8 cents a share, up from $4.6 million, or 7 cents a share a year ago.
Brampton, Ontario-based Sunopta, which also operates Opta Minerals Inc , posted a 20 percent rise in revenue at $260.9 million.
Analysts on average expected earnings of 8 cents, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.
