July 26 (Reuters) - Canadian waste management company Progressive Waste Solutions Ltd’s second-quarter profit jumped 84 percent driven by higher pricing at both its Canadian and U.S. segments and revenue from acquisitions.
North America’s third-biggest solid waste management company posted a second-quarter net profit of $36.6 million, or 30 cents a share, compared with $19.8 million, or 21 cents a share, a year ago.
Revenue rose 56 percent to $469.5 million.
Shares of the Toronto-based company closed at C$21.70 on Tuesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange. (Reporting by Maneesha Tiwari in Bangalore; Editing by Viraj Nair)
