July 29 (Reuters - Canadian food processor and distributor George Weston Ltd posted a 23 percent rise in second-quarter profit, helped by sales growth at its affiliate, Weston Foods.
Second-quarter earnings rose to C$157 million ($165.5 million), or C$1.13 a basic share, from C$128 million, or 91 basic Canadian cents a share, a year ago.
On an adjusted basis, the company earned C$1.34 a basic share.
