stocks were little changed, supported by a slight pickup in manufacturing and a surge in new home sales, while Boeing gained after raising its full-year forecast.

The Dow Jones industrial average gained 7.41 points, or 0.06 percent, to 13,109.94. The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index dropped 1.18 points, or 0.08 percent, to 1,411.93. The Nasdaq Composite Index dropped 8.59 points, or 0.29 percent, to 2,981.87.

** BOEING CO, $73.69, up 1.2 pct (0940 ET)

The aircraft maker posted stronger-than-expected results for the third quarter on Wednesday and raised its forecast for the full year, as its defense business improved and commercial aircraft deliveries surged.

** AT&T INC, $34.80, down 0.6 pct (0948 ET)

The telecom company posted third-quarter revenue below Wall Street expectations, but its earnings increased from a year earlier.

** SPARTECH CORP, $8.33, up 62 pct (1141 ET)

** POLYONE CORP, $18.29, up 8.6 pct (1142 ET)

Chemical company Polyone struck a $246.3 million deal to buy plastic products maker Spartech Corp to enter markets such as aerospace.

** TEMPUR-PEDIC INTERNATIONAL INC, $22.70, down 22.5 pct (0944 ET)

The specialty mattress maker reported its first quarterly loss and cut its full-year forecast as it struggles to maintain market share against fast-growing rivals in the burgeoning market for foam mattresses.

** FACEBOOK INC, $23.65, up 21.3 pct (1132 ET)

The world’s No. 1 social network said on Tuesday that it now gets 14 percent of its advertising revenue from mobile ads, helping to reassure investors that the social network is beginning to figure out how to earn money off smartphone and tablet users.

The stock’s trading volume was more than 4 times the 10-day moving average.

** DOW CHEMICAL CO, $30.39, up 6.4 pct (1143 ET)

Chief Executive Andrew Liveris defended his decision to slash the largest U.S. chemical maker’s capital budget and growth projects, a day after the company announced it would cut 5 percent of its workforce.

** LUMBER LIQUIDATORS HOLDINGS INC, $57.36, up 14.4 pct (1148 ET)

The hardwood flooring retailer posted better-than-expected quarterly results as its advertising and new products pulled more shoppers to its stores, and lower raw material costs boosted margins. The company also raised its earnings outlook for the full year, which also came in above analysts’ expectations.

** RF MICRO DEVICES INC, $4.56, up 16 pct (0943 ET)

The chipmaker reported a quarterly profit that topped analysts’ estimates and forecast a strong third quarter, as demand for high-speed mobile devices continue to surge.

** UNITED THERAPEUTICS CORP, $45.13, down 15.3 pct (0945 ET)

United Therapeutics said U.S. health regulators rejected its oral drug to treat high blood pressure.

** MOLINA HEALTHCARE INC, $25.83, up 13.6 pct (1039 ET)

The company posted a profit for the third-quarter against analysts’ expectations for a loss. The health insurer’s revenue in handling medicaid plans for the state of Washington went up 30 percent and Texas Medicaid coverage became profitable in the quarter, helping the company continue posting a profit.

** NETFLIX INC, $59.15, down 13.3 pct (0943 ET)

The company added fewer U.S. customers than Wall Street expected in the third quarter, forcing it to roll back its year-end subscriber forecast and sending shares plunging 15 percent.

At least three brokerages cut their price targets on the stock.

** DISCOVERY LABORATORIES INC, $2.38, down 12.8 pct (1036 ET)

The drugmaker said it does not expects its lung drug to reach pharmacy shelves until the second quarter of 2013, after it found that its chemistry method to assess compliance with certain regulatory requirements needed improvements. The company did not expect an impact to its business or financial position from the delay.

** YELP INC, $27.02, up 12.5 pct (1124 ET)

The consumer review website estimated third-quarter revenue of about $36.4 million, above analysts’ expectations of $35.8 million, and agreed to buy Europe-based review website Qype for about $50 million to expand internationally.

** MONSTER BEVERAGE CORP, $46.16, up 12.4 pct (1000 ET)

Investors expressed concern on Tuesday over potential legal and regulatory fallout from a lawsuit and investigations into five deaths to see if they are linked to the company’s namesake energy drink.

** UNISYS CORP, $17.99, down 11.28 pct (1100 ET)

The IT services company reported third-quarter revenue below Wall Street’s estimates because of declining services revenue and said a higher pension expense and debt reduction charges hurt its result.

** POLYCOM INC, $10.33, up 11.55 pct (1118 ET)

The videoconferencing company’s third-quarter results beat Wall Street’s estimates.

Wedbush Securities analyst Rohit Chopra raised his price target on the stock, citing strong sales in North America and efforts to keep costs in check.

** BUFFALO WILD WINGS INC, $74.07, down 11.25 pct (0944 ET)

The company, which operates more than 850 restaurants in the United States and Canada, reported a profit that missed analysts’ estimates as high costs pinched, and the casual dining chain disclosed slowing comparable sales in the beginning of the fourth quarter.

** WEBSENSE INC, $13.44, down 11.1 pct (1206 ET)

The data security software maker reported a decline in billings revenue for the third quarter and forecast a softer-than-expected current quarter.

FBR Capital Markets analyst Daniel Ives cut his price target on the stock, citing slowing demand in the U.S. and declining IT spending by customers.

** MARINE PRODUCTS CORP, $6.15, up 10.8 pct (1136 ET)

The company’s quarterly profit and sales rose about 75 percent and the maker of fiberglass boats also declared a special year-end dividend of 55 cents per common share.

** INVENSENSE INC, $11.16, down 10.5 pct (1002 ET)

The chipmaker’s founder and chief executive Steven Nasiri said he will be resigning immediately and the company forecast third-quarter revenue below analysts estimates on a conference call on Tuesday.

** BRINKER INTERNATIONAL INC, $30.01, down 10.25 pct (1230 ET)

The Chili’s Grill & Bar parent reported quarterly profit that missed Wall Street’s view and said closely watched sales at established restaurants, while better than expected, slowed throughout the quarter.

** FORTUNE BRANDS HOME & SECURITY INC, $29.82, up 10 pct (1056 ET)

The maker of Moen faucets and Master Lock padlocks reported higher-than expected results on Tuesday, boosted by sales of its kitchen and bath cabinetry segment. The company also raised its full-year profit forecast.

** SILICON LABORATORIES INC, $39.60, up 9.6 pct (1130 ET)

The chipmaker reported higher-than-expected quarterly results, helped by strong sales of all its major products. It forecast current-quarter revenue well above analysts’ estimates.

** SIX FLAGS ENTERTAINMENT CORP, $56.61, down 9.1 pct (1118 ET)

The company’s third-quarter sales missed Street estimates as fewer people visited its theme parks.

** JUNIPER NETWORKS INC, $16.15, down 8.1 pct (1147 ET)

The network gear maker forecast fourth-quarter results below expectations, citing cautious consumer spend.

Barclays Capital cut its price target on the stock to $19 from $20.

** CORNING INC, $12.32, down 8.1 pct (0956 ET)

The specialty glass maker reported a lower quarterly profit as sales to consumer electronics, telecommunication and automotive markets fell, and said it plans to cut jobs and reduce costs.

** TUPPERWARE BRANDS CORP, $58.43, up 7.7 pct (1053 ET)

The company, known for its brightly colored food containers, posted better-than-expected quarterly results boosted by strong sales in its emerging markets, which contribute two-thirds to total revenue. It also raised its full-year earnings forecast.

** ALLEGHENY TECHNOLOGIES INC, $29.25, down 7.3 pct (1051 ET)

The metals processor reported a lower-than-expected quarterly profit and said fourth-quarter earnings would slip as global economic uncertainty and aggressive inventory management by the company’s customers were hurting demand for its products.

** AVERY DENNISON CORP, $31.97, up 7.4 pct (1056 ET)

The label and office supplies maker reported a better-than-expected quarterly profit and raised its full-year outlook, after sales of its packaging materials rose in high single digits.

** BRAVO BRIO RESTAURANT GROUP INC, $12.82, down 7 percent (1026 ET)

The company, which operates the Bravo! Cucina Italiana and BRIO Tuscan Grille restaurants, posted third-quarter results that missed Wall Street expectations as lesser people dined at its Italian restaurants. Brokerage Jefferies cut its price target on the stock saying it expects margins to remain challenged going ahead.

** CANADIAN PACIFIC RAILWAY LTD , $94.56, up 6.9 pct (0951 ET)

Canada’s second-biggest rail operator reported a 20 percent rise in third-quarter profit on higher freight revenue.

** XOMA CORP, $3.01, down 6.5 pct (0945 ET)

Xoma filed for an offering of an undisclosed amount of shares on Tuesday as a part of a mixed shelf offering that the drugmaker filed for in August to raise up to $100 million.

** GILEAD SCIENCES INC, $69.00, up 6.3 pct (1000 ET)

The company posted a better-than-expected quarterly profit and raised its outlook for full-year sales on strong demand for its antiviral drugs.

** KENNAMETAL INC, $34.48, down 6.6 pct (0948 ET)

The industrial toolmaker’s quarterly profit missed Wall Street forecasts by a wide margin on Wednesday and the company cut its sales and earnings outlook for the full year, citing slowing economies.

** JONES GROUP INC, $12.38, down 5.3 pct (0951 ET)

The fashion company behind such brands as Nine West and Jones New York, reported a higher quarterly profit before special items, helped by a rise in sales to U.S. department stores that helped it overcome a steep drop in business at its own stores in the United States.

** PANERA BREAD CO, $168.36, up 5 pct (0948 ET)

The restaurant chain - among the top performing in the United States - reported better-than-expected quarterly earnings and issued profit forecasts above Wall Street’s view.

** HECKMANN CORP, $3.83, down 5.8 pct (1030 ET)

Heckmann said it expects third-quarter revenue between $91 million and $93 million. Analysts estimated revenue of $98.8 million, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S. ** NORFOLK SOUTHERN CORP, $62.45, down 5.4 pct (0957 ET)

The third-largest U.S. public railroad company said on Tuesday that its quarterly profit fell on lower shipments of coal and merchandise.

BB&T Capital Markets and Citigroup downgraded the stock.

** WILLIS GROUP HOLDINGS PLC, $33.51, down 4.9 pct (1032 ET)

The insurance broker posted results on Tuesday evening that missed analyst expectations, hurt by disappointing margins at its international and North American geographies.

** DONALDSON & COMPANY, $31.92, down 2.3 pct (0945 ET)

The company, which makes filtration and exhaust control products, cuts its 2013 forecast as many of its engine OEM and disk drive customers cut their production. It also said it expects first-quarter sales to decline between 2 and 6 percent, compared to the previous year-quarter due to delays in shipment to second quarter.

** USANA HEALTH SCIENCES INC, $49.00, up 4.3 pct (0946 ET)

Better-than-expected sales in the Asia Pacific region pushed USANA Health Sciences’ third quarter profit above analysts estimates. The company, which makes personal care and weight-management products also raised its full year forecast.

** REGENERON PHARMACEUTICALS INC, $158.87, up 3.8 pct (0946 ET)

The company’s third-quarter profit beat analysts’ expectations on strong sales of its eye drug, Eylea.

** LORILLARD INC, $111.08, down 4 pct (1031 ET)

The maker of Newport cigarettes posted a third-quarter profit that missed Wall Street expectations as wholesale cigarette volumes decreased and marketing costs rose.

** DR PEPPER SNAPPLE GROUP INC, $42.75, down 3 pct (0950 ET)

The soft drink maker trimmed its full-year sales growth target after its third-quarter sales came in lower than Wall Street expected.

** ELI LILLY AND CO, $50.48, down 2.75 pct (1214 ET)

The company reported quarterly results below Wall Street expectations, hurt by increased spending on research and a drop in sales as its Zyprexa schizophrenia drug faced competition from cheaper generics.

** ICONIX BRAND GROUP INC, $18.93, up 2.6 pct (0953 ET)

Iconix will buy the Umbro sneaker brand from Nike for $225 million, the companies said on Wednesday.

** C.H. ROBINSON WORLDWIDE INC, $58.75, down 3.65 pct (0955 ET)

The logistics provider reported third-quarter results below analysts’ estimates as trucking margins fell.

** GENERAL DYNAMICS CORP, $68.67, up 3.7 pct (1215 ET)

The weapons and aircraft maker’s third-quarter earnings slid 8 percent as margins fell.

** MOTOROLA SOLUTIONS INC, $51.35, up 3.2 pct (0956 ET)

The communication gear maker reported a better-than-expected third-quarter profit on strong government spending but forecast current-quarter earnings largely below market estimates.

** EMC CORP, $23.22, down 3.2 pct (1216 ET)

The data-storage equipment maker cut its outlook on Wednesday after it reported a higher third-quarter profit and sales that missed analysts’ expectations.

** THERMO FISHER SCIENTIFIC INC, $59.90, up 4 pct (1217 ET)

The world’s largest laboratory equipment maker’s third-quarter profit beat Wall Street estimates as sales of its specialty diagnostic equipment rose, prompting the company to raise its full-year forecast for the second time this year.

** ATMEL CORP, $4.46, down 5.5 pct (1217 ET)

Nomura Equity Research cut the chipmaker to “neutral” from “buy” and reduced its price target on the stock to $5 from $8.

** NETAPP INC, $28.14, down 2.1 pct (1218 ET)

BMO Capital Markets cuts the data storage equipment maker to “market perform.”

** CELESTICA INC , $6.83, down 2.7 pct (0959 ET)

The contract electronics manufacturer reported a 13 percent lower third-quarter profit on weaker demand across its segments and said it expects margins to come under pressure in the first half of 2013.

Canaccord Genuity cut the stock to “hold” from “buy.”

** CHECK POINT SOFTWARE TECHNOLOGIES, $43.54, up 1.6 pct (0959 ET)

BofA Merrill Lynch raised the computer security provider to “buy” from “neutral.”

** BROADCOM CORP, $32.66, up 2 pct (1219 ET)
