Talisman cuts 08 spending outlook as much as 9 pct

CALGARY, Alberta, Nov 4 (Reuters) - Talisman Energy Inc TLM.TO may spend as much as 9 percent less on its operations this year than previously planned due to energy and financial market weakness, Chief Executive John Manzoni said on Tuesday.

Talisman is now expected to spend C$5 billion to C$5.3 billion ($4.3 billion to $4.6 billion) in 2008, down from its previous budget of C$5.5 billion, Manzoni said in a conference call.

The company has slowed spending in its North American operations as it lives within the cash flow it is generating, he said. Talisman has also signaled a drop in spending in 2009. (Reporting by Jeffrey Jones; editing by Rob Wilson)
