TORONTO, May 5 (Reuters) - Labopharm Inc DDS.TO reported a steeper first-quarter loss on Wednesday as foreign exchange fluctuations and lower product sales hurt the Canadian drugmaker.
The Montreal-based company posted a loss of C$8.3 million (C$8.1 million), or 13 Canadian cents a share for the quarter that ended March 31, compared with a loss of C$8 million, or 14 cents a share, a year earlier.
Revenue fell 6 percent to C$4.7 million.
Analysts on average were expecting a loss of 8 Canadian cents a share, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S. ($1=$1.03 Canadian) (Reporting by Scott Anderson; Editing by Derek Caney)
