TORONTO, Jan 8 (Reuters) - Jean Coutu Group (PJCa.TO) returned to a profit as more customers bought over-the-counter remedies in the wake of the H1N1 outbreak, the Canadian drugstore chain said on Friday.
It earned C$44.6 million ($43 million), or 19 Canadian cents a share, for the quarter that ended Nov. 28, 2009, compared with a loss of C$399.2 million, or C$1.66 a share, for the same period a year earlier.
The 2008 period included a C$431 million charge related to its stake in U.S. peer Rite Aid Corp (RAD.N).
Revenue jumped 9.3 percent to C$678.1 million
