TORONTO, Jan 14 (Reuters) - Astral Media Inc ACMa.TO said on Thursday its quarterly earnings jumped more than 60 percent, as its pay TV subscriber base grew and television advertising revenue rebounded.
The Canadian specialty-TV and radio company said it earned C$64.6 million ($62.7 million) or C$1.14 a share for the first quarter ended Nov. 30, up 64 percent from C$39.6 million or 70 Canadian cents a share for the same period a year earlier.
The period also included an C$11.6 reversal in accrued expenses.
Consolidated net earnings, which excludes a tax recovery and other items, were C$1.00 per share.
