Suncor says may find partner for oil sands upgrader

CALGARY, Alberta, Jan 20 (Reuters) - Suncor Energy Inc (SU.TO) may look for a partner to take a stake in its oil sands processing operations, Chief Executive Rick George said on Tuesday.

The company, which on Tuesday said it would suspend construction of a C$20.6 billion ($16.4 billion) expansion project at its Canadian oil sands operations, may sign a long-term deal to process tar-like bitumen for other companies or find a joint-venture partner to take a stake in an upgrader.

George said he was not interested in giving up any of the company’s oil sands reserves in any deal. ($1=$1.26 Canadian) (Reporting by Scott Haggett; editing by Peter Galloway)
