TORONTO, March 25 (Reuters) - Canadian fuel cell manufacturer Hydrogenics Corp HYG.TO posted a lower quarterly loss on Wednesday, helped by operational improvements and product cost reductions.
The company posted a fourth-quarter loss of $2 million, or 2 cents a share, down from a year-ago loss of $9.5 million, or 10 cents a share.
Mississauga, Ontario-based Hydrogenics said it ended the quarter with a backlog of $22.2 million, more than 90 percent of which is anticipated to be delivered and recognized as revenue in 2009.
The company said cash and cash equivalents, restricted cash and short-term investments were $22.7 million as at Dec 31. (Reporting by Euan Rocha; Editing by Steve Orlofsky)
