TORONTO, May 28 (Reuters) - National Bank of Canada NA.TO said on Thursday its second-quarter profit jumped 46 percent helped by a strong performance from its financial markets division.
Canada’s sixth-largest bank by market value earned C$241 million ($215.9 million), or C$1.41 a share, for the second quarter ended April 30. That compared with a net income of C$165 million, or C$1.00 a share, a year earlier.
Excluding items, the bank earned C$261 million, or C$1.53 during the quarter, up from C$229 million, or C$1.41 for the same time a year ago.
Analysts had expected a profit of C$1.21 a share, according to Reuters Estimates.
