Cott says reduced Wal-Mart space to hit Q2 volume

TORONTO, April 28 (Reuters) - Cott Corp (BCB.TO) (COT.N) said on Monday Wal-Mart had begun reducing the shelf space devoted to Cott’s soft drinks, and that its volumes would be hurt in the second quarter.

“Our shelf space allocation has been reduced and we believe there will be an adverse impact on volume, particularly as the shelf is reset during the second quarter,” Interim CEO David Gibbons said during a conference call.

He said the reduction was now taking place, and would also affect the second half of 2008.
