Barrick Gold reviews spending, may defer projects

TORONTO, Oct 30 (Reuters) - Barrick Gold (ABX.TO) is reviewing its spending plans and could defer some capital projects to preserve capital, the company’s chief financial officer said on Thursday.

“We are carefully reviewing our operating and capital expenditure plans, and we continue to look for opportunities to reduce costs and perhaps even defer certain capital programs,” CFO Jamie Sokalsky said on a conference call following the release of the company’s third-quarter earnings.

“We are looking right across the board for ways to spend less money.” (Reporting by Cameron French; Editing by Peter Galloway)
