Goldcorp profit jumps on gold price surge

    MONTREAL, May 5 (Reuters) - Goldcorp (G.TO), Canada’s No. 2 gold miner, said on Monday its quarterly profit rose 84 percent, as revenue swelled amid soaring gold prices.

    The company, which has operations in Canada and throughout Latin America, earned $229.5 million, or 32 cents a share, in the first quarter ended March 31.
