UPDATE 1-CGI says gets financial services deals worth C$1.1 bln

* Renews, signs new deals with North American financial firms * Says financial services remain key growth vertical

Dec 15 (Reuters) - Outsourcing company CGI Group Inc (GIBa.TO) said on Tuesday it has signed new contracts and renewals worth C$1.1 billion ($1.04 billion) with financial institutions in North America during the current quarter.

CGI, Canada’s biggest computer consulting company, said it would provide services such as systems integration, application maintenance, IP-based solutions as well as multi-year managed services contracts under the new deals.

“Financial services continues to be a key growth vertical for CGI and these bookings further build on the strength experienced during fiscal 2009,” the company said in a statement

CGI shares, which have gained about 17 percent in last three months, closed at C$13.39 Monday on the Toronto Stock Exchange. ($1=1.058 Canadian Dollar) (Reporting by Ashutosh Joshi in Bangalore; Editing by Aradhana Aravindan)
