April 29 (Reuters) - Canadian business software maker Open Text Corp OTC.TO (OTEX.O) posted quarterly earnings that missed estimates, hurt by higher costs.
For the third quarter ended March 31, net earnings fell to $13.1 million, or 23 cents a share, from $22 million, or 41 cents a share a year ago.
Adjusted profit was higher at $40.3 million, or 70 cents a share, from $31.4 million, or 59 cents a share.
Revenue was up 11 percent at $212.8 million.
Analysts on average were expecting earnings of 74 cents per share on revenue of $232.9 million, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.
Total costs of revenue increased 11 percent to $70.9 million.
Open Text shares closed at $47.03 on Nasdaq and at C$47.30 on the Toronto Stock Exchange Thursday. (Reporting by Arnika Thakur in Bangalore; Editing by Don Sebastian)
