June 10 (Reuters) - Canadian patent licensing firm Mosaid Technologies Inc MSD.TO posted a 43 percent rise in quarterly profit, helped partly by a foreign exchange gain.
The company said it expects first-quarter revenue of C$17.5 million to C$18.5 million and pro-forma net income of 53 Canadian cents a share to 59 Canadian cents a share.
It said it expects 2011 revenue between C$77.0 million and C$80.0 million and pro-forma net income of C$2.33 a share to C$2.45 a share.
For the fourth quarter ended April 30, the company reported a net income of C$8.1 million ($7.86 million), or 69 Canadian cents a share, compared with C$5.6 million, or 55 Canadian cents a share, a year earlier.
Revenue rose 10 percent to C$19.9 million.
Analysts on average were expecting earnings of 54 Canadian cents a share, before special items, on revenue of C$17.6 million, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.
Mosaid said it had a foreign exchange gain of C$1.7 million in the fourth quarter.
