Aug 6 (Reuters) - Canada’s GMP Capital Inc’s (GMP.TO) second-quarter profit more than doubled, helped by strong performance at its capital markets segment.
The Toronto-based investment dealer’s earnings came in at C$22.5 million, or 32 Canadian cents per basic share, up from C$8.1 million, or 12 Canadian cents per basic share, a year ago.
GMP said its year-ago results included C$7.7 million in tax adjustments.
Second-quarter revenue rose 11 percent to C$111.6 million.
Revenue from its capital markets division rose 23 percent to C$100.7 million in the quarter.
Investment banking revenue rose 42 percent to $75.9 million. Shares of the company closed at C$9.35 Thursday on the Toronto Stock Exchange. (Reporting by Isheeta Sanghi in Bangalore; Editing by Vyas Mohan)
