Oct 21 (Reuters) - Amerigo Resources Ltd’s (ARG.TO) third-quarter copper sales rose 31 percent, but the Canadian copper and molybdenum producer said higher power costs and a stronger Chilean peso will negatively impact the quarter.
The company, whose primary mine is Minera Valle Central in Chile, sold 13.4 million pounds of copper for $3.65 per pound in the third quarter, compared with 10.2 million pounds for $2.79 per pound, last year.
The company’s molybdenum sales rose to 231,837 pounds, during the period, at $15.4 per pound, from 147,894 at $14.1 per pound, last year.
During the quarter, power costs rose 58 percent to 16 Canadian cents per kilowatt-hour.
Shares of the company, which have risen 5 percent in the last one year, were trading at up 2 Canadian cents at 85 Canadian cents Thursday on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
