Nov 5 (Reuters) - Fruit-based juice maker Sun-Rype Products SRF.TO posted a lower-than-expected profit, hurt by pricing pressures and declining sales volumes.
July-September earnings at the Kelowna, British Columbia-based snacks and beverage maker was C$1 million, or 9 Canadian cents a share, compared with C$400,000, or 3 Canadian cents a share, a year ago.
Analysts on average had expected the company, with a market value of about C$97 million, to earn 18 Canadian cents a share, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.
Revenue fell about 4 percent to C$34.8 million, strained by pricing pressures on beverages and lower sales volumes of food products, the company said in a statement.
Sun-Rype shares, which have remained relatively flat since the company bought U.S.-based Yakama Juice on Oct. 5, closed at C$9 on Thursday on the Toronto Stock Exchange. (Reporting by Gowri Jayakumar in Bangalore; Editing by Unnikrishnan Nair)
