Jan 11 (Reuters) - Mid-tier gold miner Aurizon Mines (ARZ.TO) sees higher gold production in 2011 and said it plans to make a significant investment in infrastructure at its Casa Berardi mine in Quebec.
The company, which currently produces only at its Casa Berardi mine, expects to produce 165,000-170,000 ounces of gold in 2011, up from its 2010 production of 141,000 ounces.
Capital expenditures at Casa Berardi are estimated to total $51.1 million in 2011. Aurizon said it will spend an additional $13.4 million on exploration at the mine, which will include about 115,000 meters of surface and underground diamond drilling.
The Vancouver-based company’s shares closed at C$6.92 on Tuesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange. (Reporting by Isheeta Sanghi in Bangalore; Editing by Anne Pallivathuckal)
