Jan 13 (Reuters) - Forzani Group Ltd FGL.TO, Canada’s largest sporting goods retailer, said total retail system sales for the 10-week period ended Jan. 9 were up 6.5 percent as the cold weather boosted Christmas sales. Forzani, which operates more than 550 retail outlets under banners such as Sport Chek and National Sport, said retail system sales — retail sales from corporate and franchise stores — rose 7 percent for the holiday season on a same-store basis. The holiday season period covers the first 10 weeks of the fourth quarter, including Christmas and Boxing Week.
