Feb 4 (Reuters) - Air Canada ACa.TO said passenger levels for January rose slightly from a year earlier, even while capacity levels increased.
Canada’s biggest airline said its system load factor for the month was 78 percent, up 0.5 percentage point from January 2010.
System traffic rose 9.1 percent on a system-wide capacity increase of 8.4 percent, the company said.
Air Canada said it generated greater traffic in all its markets through higher utilization of its existing fleet.
On Thursday, WestJet Airlines Ltd (WJA.TO), Canada’s No. 2 carrier, and privately held regional carrier Porter Airlines said they boosted capacity in January as demand for air travel continued to recover. [ID:nN03283832]
