TOKYO, Feb 17 (Reuters) - Toyota Motor Corp (7203.T) President Akio Toyoda said on Wednesday he believed North America chief Yoshimi Inaba was the logical choice to testify in U.S. congressional hearings scheduled for later this month.
“I think there was some misunderstanding about my plans” to visit the United States, Toyoda told a news conference in Tokyo.
“I have full confidence in the management of Toyota Motor North America, led by Mr Inaba, and I believe he is the best placed to testify,” he said.
Toyoda added that he himself wanted to focus on internal reform to improve quality management. (Reporting by Chang-Ran Kim and Nobuhiro Kubo)
